In today’s vernacular, I guess you would call this a “blog.” Last week my daughter, Sarah, a junior at LHHS, listed the blogs and responses she has to create every week for class assignments: more than one or two! What a change from journals and diaries - from only last semester! The reason we were discussing this was her insistence that I read several of her classmates’ blogs since this was the subject of conversation during the school day.
Who knew reading and writing could be so interesting? Not only do I now have her blogs to read but my married son and daughter-in-law have also created a blog that I must keep up with. Just when I was despairing that there was nothing to read in the newspapers anymore—
Which brings me to the point of this month’s letter/blog/post: the only certainty we have is change! Here are a few changes you might want to note:
RISD School Calendar for 2010-2011 – semester/exam schedules will change to end before Christmas!
RISD has named a new superintendent – Dr. Kay Waggoner from Grapevine-Colleyville ISD.
LHHS PTA – our 2010-2011 slate of officers will be announced in the next week and we will vote on them at our February 16 meeting at 6:30PM.
LHHS College and Career Center – is new and is making news! We were featured on the front page of the Dallas Morning News Metro section on Friday January 29th. Dr. Prine who leads our center was our speaker at our January PTA meeting – lots of parents and lots of great info on how the center can help your student. The college application and scholarship process changes every year and our new center is here to help our students and parents navigate those changes!
