The RISD Council of PTAs is proud to announce plans to award 12 student scholarships and 4 teacher scholarships for the 2009-2010 school year.  The scholarship committee will award eight (8) Dr. J. J. Pearce Memorial scholarships to graduating seniors in RISD (2 per high school) in the amount of $2,500 each.
These scholarships are applicable to four-year colleges or universities.

In addition, four (4) Dr. J.J. Pearce Memorial scholarships in the amount of $1,000 each will be awarded to four RISD graduating seniors who plan to attend a junior college, community college or vocational school.

All scholarship awards will be based on academics, character, extra-curricular activities and financial need.

Additional application forms will be available in the counselors’ office. The deadline for submitting applications is March 23.

Four (4) teacher scholarships in the amount of $500 each will be awarded this year. The recipients must have taught at least one full academic year in RISD to be considered and must have a current PTA membership.

Recipients will be notified before May 1. All scholarship recipients will be presented at the RISD Council of PTAs Awards Luncheon to be held on May 27.
