I can’t believe the school year is over halfway through! That being said, life seems to be getting busier and busier and our kids continue down the road to LHHS. This is an exciting time for everyone – students and parents alike. The kids have had a taste of independence and responsibility as they have settled into their classes and activities as high school students.
We still have a busy spring ahead and I hope you can participate at some level in the many activities the FreshmanCenter has to offer. The FreshmanCenter is participating in the RISD’s 28th Annual Used Book Fair which will be February 11-14th at Valley View Mall. The LHFC receives a portion of the proceeds from the book fair based on the number of books we donate so please look through your books and send the ones you are willing to part with to school with your child the first week of February. This is an easy way to support the LHFC with the added benefit of neater bookshelves!
Our PTSA sponsored Favorites dance is March 5th. This year’s theme is Friday Night Fever so dig out your polyester and your platforms shoes and let your kids fully experience the Disco days!. Thanks to our Dance Committee, Kari Carrington, Alesia Ritenour and Mary Jayne Pumphrey, in advance for their planning.
A big, big thank you to our Directory Committee, Melinda Miller and Nancy Pearce, for all of their hard work. They did a great job on the directory and got it out in record time!
Things have really changed since I was in high school and the opportunities and level of academic achievement that our kids are experiencing never cease to amaze me. I am so thankful for our amazing teachers who challenge our students each and every day and the level of parental involvement I’ve seen here at the FreshmanCenter. I know our students are going to be well prepared to travel across the parking lot to the BIG school next year!
